While at FOSDEM 2012, Daniel Pocock has launched the first version of Lumicall into the Android market.

Lumicall started as a fork of Sipdroid, but has grown in leaps and bounds, now featuring many advanced features:

  • Easy registration using your phone number as a SIP address
  • ZRTP for peer-to-peer encryption
  • SIP signalling over TLS, which is significantly more reliable when using NAT or other hostile network environments.
  • ICE, STUN and TURN support for NAT traversal, dramatically increases the percentage of calls that are likely to succeed without problems such as one-directional audio
